Greg Troyan began his musical journey in the year of 2004, at the age of 14. After seeing his first rock concert, Greg became inspired to create his own music. He began taking piano lessons and joined his high school choir while simultaneously teaching himself how to play guitar and bass. He entered into both local musical theater and his high school jazz band in 2005. In 2006, Greg became an alumni of the Tiffin University Jazz Summit. In 2007, Greg joined Cleveland's Contemporary Youth Orchestra and performed with Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke fame. In 2008, he won the Ovation Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in 42nd Street and also won the Kenston Academic Award for Music. In 2009, Greg began venturing into the realm of music journalism writing for hard rock news site Sleaze Roxx.

In 2012, he recorded a series of demos with Billy Morris (Warrant/Quiet Riot/Paul Gilbert) which would later be released as a full album of originals called Lipstick in 2014. Greg became the frontman for the hard rock group, also called Lipstick, which made its debut club appearance in Nashville in 2013. After winning multiple Battle of the Bands competitions with Lipstick, Greg toured as a professional bassist for the group The Man Power in late 2013 and early 2014. In 2015, due to strong sales, the debut Lipstick album was re-released as a special edition with bonus tracks. In 2017, the band's second album, Lipstick II was released. The record featured guest appearances from Phil Shouse (Gene Simmons/Ace Frehley/Accept), Tom Pappas (Superdrag), and Kyle Hebert (Dragonball Z), among others.

In 2019, the band was renamed Lipstick Generation and released a series of singles summarzing the plot of the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones less than 4 hours after each episode aired as a musical challenge to see how quickly the band could write, record and release new material. Greg also returned to his classical roots and completed his first feature film score for a film titled The 13th Cross. The film is directed by Joseph DeGoyler and scheduled for a 2020 release.

Greg has also been extremely actively in the Nashville community performing at a wide array of charity benefits for charities such as Linda's Hope (cancer research) and the Nashville Children's Alliance. In 2013, Greg organized the charity concert Nashville Saves Christmas, which gathered over 15 local artists in support of the Alive Hospice.
